Special Activity for The English Week:
Once upon a time a man had a goose that laid eggs of gold. Every day the goose produced an egg, so that the man found he was rich. Men from far away kingdoms travelled to find the man with the goose to buy a golden egg for their kingdom. After a while the man became impatient with waiting for his daily golden egg, so he seized the goose and killed it, thinking that he would find the source of the gold within its body. But he discovered that inside it was no different from any other goose, and of course it never laid another golden egg. The man had one last golden egg and men from around the world travelled to get the last golden egg for their kingdom. The kingdoms were at war with each other and battled to protect the last golden egg. The kingdom that would bring the golden egg safely to their castles would be the richest kingdom in all the land and the warriors’ greatly rewarded.
Warriors, your goal is to gain possession of the golden egg, protect it and bring it to the Royal family safely.
To begin the battle and decide who will have the first possession of the golden egg, we will throw the golden egg in the air. The army that catches the golden egg safely will have the first possession of the golden egg.
Each soldier will have one horse, this is their tail.
If you have the golden egg, you may not move, jump or dive to avoid an attack. You are only allowed to pass or throw the golden egg to your comrade.
To attack an opponent you must injure their horse by pulling their tail.
You may only attack an opponent and injure their horse when they have possession of the golden egg.
If you successfully injure your opponent’s horse, your army will gain possession of the golden egg.
If you have the golden egg and your horse is injured by an opponent, you must do 1 lap around the field before you can return to the battle.
The battle will last 20 minutes with one halftime. After 20 minutes, the two remaining armies will begin the final battle for the golden egg for another 20 minutes with one halftime. The other armies will sadly return to their villages to practice their combat. The winning army will be rewarded by the royal family for bringing the golden egg safely to the castle. Their kingdom will be the richest in all the land.
